DDSB Update – Three School Closures
Due to the number of cases and the number of staff and students who have been dismissed, DRHD has made the decision to close three of our schools – Vaughan Willard PS, Westcreek PS and Glen Street PS. School communities and staff are being notified of these closures. The earliest date of return to school for staff and students is end of day which is April 12, 2021. This is the week of the break so return to school for staff and students will be April 19at the earliest.
To identify additional cases of COVID-19 in the school, Durham Region Health Department is strongly recommending that all staff and students seek testing for COVID-19. This can be done through a Community Assessment Centre (CAC), or in the case of Glens St PS at a asymptomatic testing clinic that has been arranged at the school for that community tomorrow evening. Staff can always access the asymptomatic testing program through Shoppers Drug Mart as well.
All educators are encouraged to teach online from home as much as possible. If there are exceptional reasons for needing to access the school, they will need to reach out to their administrator. The goal is to limit any congregating in the school.
