I want to be clear – the announcement made by Ford today, did not
reflect the reality that CUPE OSBCU education workers are living in. We
know that the statement “School are closed” is false. Hundreds of
schools in the North remain open, and special education classes
throughout the south remain open. We are almost a year into the
pandemic and the government has failed to provide any measures within
the school system that would effectively flatten the curve.
We will be issuing a statement tomorrow that will call into account the
government’s inaction and highlight the reality that all of our
members are facing.
