Good afternoon,
I wanted to reach out following Ford’s announcement today. As per his
routine, his announcement leaves far more questions than answers,
especially for education workers who are desperately trying to figure
out what all this means.
We have sent urgent communication to our contacts within the government
requesting immediate communications.
To date we are requesting the following information
- The state of emergency, ordering folks to stay home – does that mean
that all in class learning is closed? - Should any school board employees be asked to report?
- We assume that under this SOE, that once again income and job
protections are in place for all education workers?
We cannot understand how under a state of emergency that it appears the
majority of our members will continue to be asked to report to work. At
this point we are even unsure what it means for the five “hotspot”
areas: Toronto, Peel, York, Hamilton and Windsor.
Once we have answers we will immediately reach out to you.
