DDSB OCT notice

SUBJECT: IMPORTANT – April 6, 2020: Retrieval of Equipment and Materials from School

Dear School Secretaries:
We hope that you and your families are well and adjusting to the new normal that’s become part of our
lives.
You may know that the DDSB has been very busy putting together the Distance Learning programs that
have been mandated by the Ministry of Education. This is good news for our students and families. You
can imagine the level of internal organization and administration that is required to move on such short
notice to an entirely different model of teaching and learning!
In your role as administrative support for our schools, you are an integral, very important member of the
educational team. We need your help!
We recognize that you may not have the technology/materials that you require to do some of your
regular work from your home to support your school. Therefore, to facilitate retrieval of laptops and
anything else you might need from your school, we have arranged a time for you to enter your school to
pick up what you need. Please do not bring other individuals with you for this pickup.
On Monday, April 6, 2020, Custodial staff will be at the school cleaning at 6:00 am and will ensure that
the front door is unlocked at 9:00 am for you to enter the building. You are not permitted to enter the
building until 9:00 am, and you must retrieve your equipment as quickly as possible and exit the
building. You will need to sanitize your hands as you enter and exit the building.
Note that you may ONLY enter the building under the following circumstances:

1. You must be symptom free of respiratory illness on the date of entry and 14 days
prior;
2. You must not have been outside of Canada within the last 14 days prior to the date of
entry to the school
3. You must not have cared for or had known contact with an individual with confirmed
COVID-19 or COVID-19 like symptoms (fever, new cough, difficulty breathing).
4. You must practice social distancing at all times while you are on school property:
maintaining a minimum of 6’ (2 metres) between yourself and anyone else you
encounter.

If you are unable to meet this criteria please contact your Principal to arrange for a colleague to pick
up your equipment and materials on your behalf, for off-site pickup.
Please contact your Principal once you have your equipment to indicate that you are set up to be able to
support the virtual allocation of computer equipment to your students.
Again, your assistance in setting up a virtual office to support your school is critical to our success in
managing this new way of educating our students, and your cooperation and assistance is very much
appreciated. Thank you from all of us at the DDSB.
