Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Bill 28 allows the government to levy fines against members and the Union for any job action. This is unprecedented and we do not know what to expect. We are planning for any eventuality and CUPE remains committed to supporting members.
If you receive a fine, this is the process:
1. Take a picture of any documents
2. Send the photos to your Local President Dennis Gibbs dgibbs@cupe218.ca
3. Keep the documents; do not pay the fine
If you are arrested, your first call should be to your Local President who will in turn contact your National Representative.
In advance of attending the picket line, please have your Local Presidents contact information saved.
