RE: Know Your Rights Workshop
CUPE and the Sexual Harassment and Assault Resource Exchange (SHARE) project at the Human Rights Legal Support Centre in Ontario will be partnering with the Kingston District Labour Council’s Education Committee to host a free, public workshop called Know Your Rights: Sexual and Gender-Based Violence at Work on November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
We’re reaching out to locals, members and organizations in the Kingston area who might be interested in helping us promote this event through their social media channels, newsletters, or spreading the word in other ways. Please encourage your locals to attend and feel free to sign up as well.
Here’s a brief description of our workshop:
Every worker has the right to a workplace free from sexual and gender-based violence and discrimination. These rights were gained through the collective struggles of women’s liberation, racial and gender justice, disability justice and the labour movement. Join us on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women to learn about your rights around sexual harassment and discrimination at work, how to hold your employer accountable and how your union can support you.
This workshop will be facilitated by Kimalee Phillip (she/her), CUPE National Human Rights Representative and Meike Jourdain (she/her), SHARE Outreach Coordinator.
We would greatly appreciate your help reaching your audience and letting folks know about this free event! Please use the attached promotional materials to help get the word out. We will also have a resources table at this event so if there are organizations that should be in the space, please let me know.
In solidarity,
Kimalee Phillip (she/her)
