Important update on your CUPE EWBT benefits plan and COVID-19

A Message from the Trustees
The CUPE EWBT Board of Trustees understands the COVID-19 pandemic is creating additional financial challenges for some of our members. As always – and especially during these difficult times – our plan members are our top priority.
Thanks to sound financial management and strong governance of the Trust, the Trustees have been able to build and maintain a reserve of funds. These funds were recently used to improve your benefits and can also be used in case of extraordinary circumstances.

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Trustees have approved a
3-month contribution holiday for all plan members with active coverage. This means no benefits premiums will be collected for April, May and June.
In June, the Trustees will re-evaluate the situation and will decide, at that point, whether to extend the contribution holiday for up to an additional 3 months.

Having managed the plan and the Trust prudently for a number of years, we are now in a position to help our members when they need it the most. We hope the contribution holiday gives you some financial relief during this trying time.
